Celebrating Independence Day with Rotaract
I am grateful to have borne witness to two great initiatives on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. One is a RID 3142 initiative, which leaves ripples of kindness for years to come. Another, a collaboration between the Rotaract Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise and the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise, which marked the day with heartfelt celebrations.
Yes, I am talking about the DAPTAR inauguration and Azaadi Ke Rang. These events were not only tributes to our nation's freedom but also vibrant gatherings aimed at inspiring and empowering underprivileged children.
DAPTAR: Empowering Through Education and Life Lessons
Coming to DAPTAR; which is an initiative driven by the Rotaract clubs within District 3142, conceptualized by its core members to extend support to underprivileged children beyond conventional education. It is a unique platform where children are imparted new skills along with practical life lessons essential for navigating the real world. Rotaractors engage personally with the children, sharing their personal experiences to broaden the children’s horizons and enrich their understanding.
The day began with the ceremonial collaring of DRR Rtr. Jitesh Bhatia, accompanied by DRRE Rtr. Himanshu Dapurkar. Both were felicitated by the Principal and teachers of the NMMC School at Airoli, honoring their contributions. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony, a moment of unity and patriotism. Rotaractors took on the role of Master of Ceremonies, delivering inspiring speeches about the significance of independence and freedom.
Adding a cultural touch, one Rotaractor performed an elegant Bharatanatyam dance, captivating the audience with grace and tradition. A magician’s performance dazzled everyone, with marvelous tricks bringing smiles and amazement, highlighting the joyous spirit of the day.
Azaadi Ke Rang: Sharing the Spirit of Freedom
The celebrations continued at the Child Learning Centre in Turbhe with Azaadi Ke Rang, where the president of the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise hoisted the tricolor with pride and reverence. The event featured enthusiastic singing and dance performances by the children, showcasing their talents and spreading a festive mood. The atmosphere was charged with a shared sense of national pride as teachers and Rotaractors talked about the story of Independence to honor the day.
Rotaractors entertained the children by playing games and dancing with them on trendy songs. The program concluded with the distribution of snacks, creating joyful memories and reinforcing the spirit of community and togetherness.
Independence Day at Rotaract: More Than Just a Celebration
Rotaract’s Independence Day celebrations have always been a perfect blend of patriotism, education, and joy. It emphasizes the role of Rotaractors not only as community leaders but as mentors who inspire the younger generation. These celebrations exemplify how Rotaract clubs celebrate Independence Day not merely as a historical milestone but as a living, breathing occasion to educate, empower, and unite people across all walks of life.
